COSHH Lev Testing

The Health and Safety at Work Act places a duty on employers to protect employee’s health, safety and welfare.  COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) is part of this Act and places a duty on employers and employees to ensure that the exposure to hazardous substances is preferably prevented or otherwise adequately controlled.

It is a legal requirement under The COSHH regulations to undertake a full test and report of all LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) systems operating in the workplace. This includes, dust extraction systems / spray booths / fume extraction systems. The purpose of this is to ensure your LEV systems are achieving an adequate level of control in circumstances where your employees may be exposed to a system hazardous to health, i.e. wood dust. Dust of any kind depending on its concentration is considered a hazard.

In the case of wood dust extraction systems a thorough LEV test and assessment must be carried out at 14 monthly intervals, other hazardous substances may require that LEV testing is carried out more frequently.

To ensure you comply with COSHH Indusvent can undertake your LEV testing all results are tabulated and further assessed, to confirm if the system is performing efficiently.  A report with all relevant comments and recommendations will also be specified. We will also manage renewal dates and archive all reports for a minimum of 7 years.
